Creative Wanderlust Community Open House – July 2022 Recap: Bastille Day Collage
As always I loved gathering with friends this past month for a little Creative Wanderlust Community Open House. The theme for July was Bastille Day, as it was the 14th of July, so we collaged together in the spirit of Matisse’s wonderful cutout style and any French theme we wanted. I absolutely love the simplicity of Matisse’s cutout pieces, yet how entertaining, playful and vibrant they all are. I look forward to hosting one more in person Open House in August before I head off to France. Once abroad I will continue to host them online. Portland Art Party: Design a Portland Food Truck
For my new Wanderlust Portland – A Creative Guide to the City book launch I had the best time getting together online with many of you for an art lesson/art party and coming up with an imaginative food cart celebrating Portland’s food truck scene! My favorite part was working together to brainstorm a food truck theme, and then designing it as we went along! For those who could not make it, we decided to go with a Japanese/French themed food truck that specialized in Japanese teas and French patisseries! We named it Pa-TEA-sserie, and decorated it with sakura flowers, fleur de lis, tea cups and of course treats. I just…

CWC Open House – Decorate Ukrainian Style Eggs
April 2022 – Creative Wanderlust Community Open House RecapTo celebrate springtime, I hosted a wonderful, in person creative open house where we decorated eggs inspired by the rich tradition of Ukrainian/Eastern European egg designs. It was a sublime evening weather wise– almost a bit surreal that in mid-April we were having an 80 degree day, but we took advantage of this warm weather and set up outside to create. With paint pens, glitter markers and more we had a great time decorating painted wooden eggs with a variety of motifs, from traditional egg designs to our own making. As always, it was a wonderful way to come together, catch up on life,…

Their mission is to not only provide affordable studio space for artists (in the San Francisco Bay Area this is HUGE), yet also their goals is to promote community by providing resources and opportunities for artists to grow and thrive! The Art Bias mission is to be a community where artists have access to the resources and opportunities they need to thrive. We provide affordable artist studios, professional development events and resources, exhibition opportunities, and a thriving community of artists interested…

Let’s Build a Creative Community
As many of you know, I’m passionate about building community. Whether in person or online, I couldn’t have made it through this last few years without community! The word community can be a loaded word and mean many things depending on context. For me, community is about people coming together and sharing experiences – and in particular in my case, creative experiences whether that be making art (drawing, painting, collaging) or through words and exploration (storytelling, learning new skills, trying new things and travel, of course!) Creativity is a very large umbrella in my mind and definitely doesn’t have to involve actually making art. I find, though, being with others…

Creative Wanderlust Community Open House #2 – ONLINE
Join me for my next Creative Wanderlust Community Open House online on Thursday, February 3rd, from 6-7PM (PST). I refuse to have Omicron dampen the incredible energy and fun we had in December at the first CWC Open House, so in true sign of the times, I’ve decided to pivot for the month and host this gathering online! I am eager to see everyone as well as create together. I’ve chosen a fun topic that we can all do while we meet, mail art! For those who may not know what this is, I will provide a brief introduction, as well as will provide a downloadable kit with some supplies…

Creative Wanderlust Prompts: Add Creativity to Your Everyday
I’ve been wanting to provide inspiration through creative prompts for a long while now – for not only myself, but also the creative, wanderlust fueled community around me! I am always inspired by artsy prompts, writing prompts, 100 day projects, etc., but haven’t found a prompt list to satisfy my endless curiosity for exploring not only the world (hello, wanderlust!) but also varied creative mediums! So, in my desire to try new things and strengthen our creative community, I thought it would be fun to publish a weekly Creative Wanderlust Prompt list. Each list will provide inspiration for people like you and me to explore a wanderlust topic through multiple creative…

Creative Wanderlust Community Open House #1 – December 2, 2021
I can’t wait to kick off this new event I will be hosting every other month on the first Thursday, from 5-7:30pm – a Creative Wanderlust Community Open House! Join me on Thursday, December 2nd, 2021 for a creative evening with friends making, sharing stories, relaxing and enjoying the moment! At each open house, I will share an overarching theme to get inspired. I aim to have it guide us in discussions as well as inspired us to be creative, what every format we choose. I also welcome anyone who wants to come who perhaps doesn’t want to create art, but just wants to socialize! These open houses are all…
