Draw on a Photograph: Adding Murals to Buildings You See (Digital Art School)
Painting a mural on a building is quite a feat! I am friends with a few illustrators who take on these projects and I’m always in awe! Not only does it take buckets (and buckets) of paint, equipment like a ladder or lift and time, it also takes a lot of training. It’s one thing to paint or illustrate an 8″x10″ image, and quite another to tackle the side of a twelve story apartment building in, say, New York City! The perspective one needs to view their art from a distance while painting it up close is a skill of its own. Perhaps it is a dream of yours to…

Explore Cincinnati, Ohio with Creativity
The Queen City, Cincy, The ‘Nati, The City of Seven Hills – Cincinnati, Ohio is known by many names, and has a long history in America, yet we never hear much about it as a place to visit let alone in the general national news. During the 1800s, Cincinnati remained one of the top 10 populous cities in the United States, yet as time went on, other midwestern cities such as Chicago, and St. Louis surpassed it in population, most likely garnering Cincinnati less national attention. Despite this fact, there is much to know and love about Cincinnati. In celebration of the Cincinnati Bengal’s appearance in Super Bowl LVI, I thought it would be fun to…

What Do Your Passport Stamps Mean to You – Creative Wanderlust Photography Prompt
What does your passport mean to you? Does it represent checkmarks on your bucket list or something else? I’d love to hear. I just sent off my passport to get renewed and must admit, always get a little nervous when it is mailed off. My passport represents much more than a form of identification. It fuels my curiosity and soul – the people I meet, the cultures I learn about, the nature I see, the stories I hear. It also represents my heritage, my home country and my own cultural identity. I could go on and on how this one document is so meaningful to me, but it boils down…

Creative Wanderlust Prompt: Passport
It’s interesting to me how a document such as a passport can represent so much to me. It is not only a form of identification, but it also shares my nationality and home country to the world. It houses stamps of so many stories of adventure- travel triumphs, travel failures, the loved ones I’ve traveled with and all the people I’ve met along the way. For many it’s a badge of honor, providing others with proof of where you have been. For me, it’s less about the proof and more about the ability to be able to travel, explore this incredible world, meet new people, be exposed to new cultures…

Creative Wanderlust Prompt: Las Vegas
What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas… well not true this week. Let’s use this glitter town as inspiration to get creative! This week we are heading to Sin City to be inspired by all things Vegas! For those who have never been, Las Vegas, Nevada is quite a sight to see. Not just for all the things we think about when we hear of Vegas (lights, gambling, night clubs, show girls, partying) but what I find most fascinating is a how a trading post along the Spanish Trail in the Mojave Desert (Vegas in Spanish means “the meadows”) turned into one of the world’s top tourist destinations and has…

Creative Wanderlust Prompt List: Suitcase
Pack your bags! This week we are going to creatively explore the word suitcase! A suitcase can mean so many things beyond just the obvious! Just watch a family’s dog when the suitcases come out of the closet and start to get packed! (The dogs in my life have all not enjoyed the site of suitcases!
) For me, a suitcase obviously means travel!! Whether an overnight or an international trip. Just think other things suitcases mean- what type of “suitcase” would one use for a trek in the Himalayas vs. a suitcase packed for a long weekend in NYC? And the other interesting thing- have you ever thought of…

How to Add Creativity to Your Life Everyday
Do you know of the numerous health and happiness benefits adding creativity to your life can bring? Not only does it improve our mood (hello, happiness!) but can also improve brain function and our mental & physical health! I know, I know, I hear what you are thinking… “but I’m not creative at ALL.” (i.e., “I can’t draw…” “I am NOT artsy…” or the ever popular “I have no time for creativity.”) When I say adding creativity to your life, I think of it as a much larger concept than dabbling with watercolors, or drawing a realistic rendering. Although I love watercoloring and admire those who draw with photo perfection,…

Creative Wanderlust Prompt: Palm Springs
It’s time for a little Southern California, mid-century modern, wanderlust adventure this week with our Creative Wanderlust Prompt: Palm Springs! Palm Springs is a desert resort area in California’s Colorado Desert, a 7 million acre area of land that is part of the Sonoran Desert. The landscape is arid and brown like many deserts, yet unique as it is surrounded on three sides by towering mountain ranges: Little San Bernardino Mountains to the north, the Santa Rosa Mountains on the south, and the San Jacinto Mountains to the west. San Jacinto Peak rises 3,302 m or 10,834 ft and is often covered in snow in the winter. Palm Springs is also…
