Art on the Go: Create an Infographic of Your Trip
Infographics (or information graphics) are all the rage these days. We are very visual people, and it’s clear that we don’t want to read much, so an infographic is the perfect way to relay a lot of information in one quick shot. There is an infographic for almost everything these days, infographics about social media, infographics about a movie, infographics about food pairing, there are even infographics about infographics!
So, why not join the trend and create an infographic about your recent trip? Your friends and family will want to know what you did, and how your trip was, so whip up an infographic and share to all. Here’s how…
Above is an infographic I made after my family’s amazing trip to Machu Picchu, Peru. It’s hard to capture such an exhilarating experience as seeing this world wonder, but I think this graphic was perfect. I created this on my iPad, using a photo I took on our afternoon hike, and added the text with an app called Over. There are many apps for your phone and iPad that allow you to put type on top of an image. I like Over for it’s simple to use interface, but any similar app will do.
Just open up your image in your application and start typing. Mix the use of fonts and styles for the different facts and memories of your trip. Big and bold for important information, and smaller, more subtle fonts for the details. Remember, less text is better on an infographic.
Once complete, share it with friends and family on social media or save it as a new photo and have it printed and framed to capture your memories. I have many more Machu Picchu memories to share, this was just a snapshot, of course. Stay tuned!
