What Do Your Passport Stamps Mean to You – Creative Wanderlust Photography Prompt
What does your passport mean to you? Does it represent checkmarks on your bucket list or something else? I’d love to hear. I just sent off my passport to get renewed and must admit, always get a little nervous when it is mailed off. My passport represents much more than a form of identification. It fuels my curiosity and soul – the people I meet, the cultures I learn about, the nature I see, the stories I hear. It also represents my heritage, my home country and my own cultural identity. I could go on and on how this one document is so meaningful to me, but it boils down…

Creative Wanderlust Community Open House #2 – ONLINE
Join me for my next Creative Wanderlust Community Open House online on Thursday, February 3rd, from 6-7PM (PST). I refuse to have Omicron dampen the incredible energy and fun we had in December at the first CWC Open House, so in true sign of the times, I’ve decided to pivot for the month and host this gathering online! I am eager to see everyone as well as create together. I’ve chosen a fun topic that we can all do while we meet, mail art! For those who may not know what this is, I will provide a brief introduction, as well as will provide a downloadable kit with some supplies…

Creative Wanderlust Prompt: Passport
It’s interesting to me how a document such as a passport can represent so much to me. It is not only a form of identification, but it also shares my nationality and home country to the world. It houses stamps of so many stories of adventure- travel triumphs, travel failures, the loved ones I’ve traveled with and all the people I’ve met along the way. For many it’s a badge of honor, providing others with proof of where you have been. For me, it’s less about the proof and more about the ability to be able to travel, explore this incredible world, meet new people, be exposed to new cultures…

Whatever Medium You Choose – It’s All Creative
This week while I was starting one of my art prompts, I realized I really wanted to draw digitally. I had a moment of hesitation, as for the most part, when doing my daily prompts I like using what most refer to as “traditional” mediums. I love my black pen, and crave the looseness I get with my watercolors. So I paused for a moment in a conundrum. When I wrote my weekly Creative Wanderlust Prompt list and put the words, “Paint,” “Draw” and “Write” did I inherently mean specifically paint with watercolor or draw with a pen? Absolutely not! This musing instantly reminded me that I’m the one who emphatically believes what ever…

Creative Wanderlust Prompt: Las Vegas
What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas… well not true this week. Let’s use this glitter town as inspiration to get creative! This week we are heading to Sin City to be inspired by all things Vegas! For those who have never been, Las Vegas, Nevada is quite a sight to see. Not just for all the things we think about when we hear of Vegas (lights, gambling, night clubs, show girls, partying) but what I find most fascinating is a how a trading post along the Spanish Trail in the Mojave Desert (Vegas in Spanish means “the meadows”) turned into one of the world’s top tourist destinations and has…

Creative Wanderlust Prompt List: Suitcase
Pack your bags! This week we are going to creatively explore the word suitcase! A suitcase can mean so many things beyond just the obvious! Just watch a family’s dog when the suitcases come out of the closet and start to get packed! (The dogs in my life have all not enjoyed the site of suitcases! 😂) For me, a suitcase obviously means travel!! Whether an overnight or an international trip. Just think other things suitcases mean- what type of “suitcase” would one use for a trek in the Himalayas vs. a suitcase packed for a long weekend in NYC? And the other interesting thing- have you ever thought of…

Creative Wanderlust Story: Poolside Gossip – Flash Fiction Inspired by Slim Aarons’s Iconic 1970s Photograph
I wore yellow because Jane hates the color. That’s just the kind of mood I’m in today. Shitty. Carl has once again left me here in Palm Springs to “cool my jets” as he hops off to Positano or Portofino or somewhere panoramic pawning his next screenplay. Another story of a horny middle aged man’s disenchantment with married life leading him to find solace in the arms of a hooker. And, yes, Dawn is en route with him. She’s no doubt packed her satin disco dress and hot pants, clueless to fashion rules in coast side Italy. She’ll be doing her own type of pawning, or pawing playing the leading lady role…
